FEATURE ARTICLE : Malaysian School Uniform

Every country’s school has their own culture, Malaysia also have. However, Malaysia school life is very different with others country, especially is the school uniform. Malaysian people will always feel that why others country school uniform is beautiful that our country. How are the special of Malaysian school uniform?

In Malaysia primary and secondary school,our school uniform is like the picture show at the side. The uniform is suit to all race and all gender of the students. All of the students will wear the uniform to school. From the picture we can notice that the girl  type uniform is very “special”. Most of Malaysian cannot understand why the design like this but until know we also did not know the answer.

Besides, study in Malaysia typically schools,there are not only have one set uniform. In the school, it also had sports uniform and co-curricular uniform. Students will wear sport uniform when they have sport’s class during that day, normally they will wear twice a week. Moreover, student will wear the co-curricular uniform every Wednesday and every third Monday of each week. The co-curricular have many associations, we can choose the association that we one to participant and wear the association’s uniform.

Not only that, most special in Malaysian school’s Uniform is the shoes. Normally, student who didn’t have the position should wear white shoes and others should wear black shoes. However, recently the government changes that every student should wear black shoes to school. The changing have two years buffer period, in the buffer period, students can choose either want to wear white shoes or black shoes.

In my opinion, Malaysian school uniform is very special and very interesting. Even the school uniform is not so nice, but it also a style of Malaysia. Malaysia is trying to chance become more better and we need to put efforts and support them.

a. What have you learnt about feature writing?

-        The things I have learnt about feature article is features are non-deadline journalistic story. Feature article will not expire. Feature article can be held until the next day or week if the adequate space is not available to publish a feature today. Feature usually is soft news. In feature article we need have a headline, headline is use to grabs the reader’s attention. If need complete a feature article, we not only have a headline, we also need have body and conclusion together.

b. Why did you choose the topic that you wrote?

-        The topic I choose to wrote is Malaysian School Life. I choose this topic is because every country has their own school culture and their own style of uniform and others, Malaysia also have. School life also one of the cultures of Malaysia, these will not same with others country. Malaysia school uniform have the own special style.

c. What were the problems you have faced while writing and how did you overcome?

-        The problem I faced while writing is how to write a feature article. The way to overcome the problem is read the slide that lecture give and do the research from the internet. I do the research and understand one by one, step by step just start to do it. First, I need to think out a topic that I want to wrote. Second, write out a headline that can easily grab people attention. Next, start write the body, the body need at least three points and elaborate that three points. Lastly, end up with the conclusion.

d. How would your audience benefit from your feature?

-        Audience can benefit from the feature is knowing about learn Malaysia culture from the feature article. From the feature audience can know that how was the Malaysian School Life, especially for the audience they are not Malaysian. Audience also can know that what is the Malaysian school uniform and how the student study in the school. Besides audience also can know that what are the event student will participant in the school, such as student participant in annual sports competition.
